Ryan & Sarah’s Rustic Highland Wedding at Mar Lodge Estate

Ryan and Sarah celebrated their wedding at the breathtaking Mar Lodge Estate, nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms. This traditional Highland hunting retreat, with its rich wood panelling, antique details, and grand stag heads, set the scene for a wedding that was as unique as it was beautiful.

The day carried a relaxed, rustic, and alternative vibe. Guests travelled from across Scotland, Ireland, and as far as America to be part of the celebration - a true testament to the love and warmth Ryan and Sarah inspire.

The ceremony was steeped in tradition, with Scottish rituals including handfasting and drinking from the quaich. These intimate moments wove together both cultures, reflecting Sarah’s American roots and Ryan’s Scottish heritage in a way that felt personal and deeply meaningful.

Unlike many couples, Ryan and Sarah decided not to slip away for private portraits in the surrounding forests. Instead, they chose to stay among their guests, sharing in every moment. This decision perfectly matched my approach - blending in quietly, documenting the surroundings, the people, and the genuine moments that naturally unfolded.

As night fell, the grand Stag Ballroom came alive. Guests filled the floor for a traditional Scottish ceilidh, the laughter and music echoing through the wood-panelled hall and making the evening feel truly unforgettable.
